Today I'm proud to announce a new millestone for the leading Joomla Shopping Cart component
, MijoShop. This major release includes an important structure change beside several new features so that from now, MijoShop will be totally developed by Mijosoft and not rely on OpenCart.
(I'm not adding any screenshot as most of these changes are structural and not in interface level.)
OMG... I'm scared...
Calm down, nothing to worry. We're dropping the integration with OpenCart and not it's extensions so from now, we're going to develop the eCommerce part of MijoShop ourselves. The main reason that pushed us to do this is the individual decissions made by the OpenCart developer and so on the delay of new versions. The latest (minor) version of OC has been released about 6 months ago and the new version won't work with any of the current extensions, none of them.
In short, we won't add any further OpenCart version into MijoShop and make all of the future developments by ourselves.
What about the extensions?
As I said, all of OC extensions will still work fine. We're also working on an extension directory for MijoShop where just the MijoShop compatible extensions will be listed. It's almost done and hope to announce it within a couple of weeks.
MijoShop already have a template override system but we've improved it by adding the possibility to override the MijoShop output through your Joomla template. This will keep your overrides even if you uninstall MijoShop and easy the job for Joomla template developers. Here
you can find more info (subscription required).
Joomla language packages
This is one of the most wanted features, Joomla language packages for MijoShop. We've prepared a tool that will convert the OpenCart language files into Joomla ones and will create an installable language package so you could install it from the Joomla back-end. Here
you can find the details and required info(subscription required).
We've also improved the migration tools so that now you can migrate your customers and their data (address, fax etc.) from other components (VirtueMart, HikaShop, redShop and Tienda) to MijoShop.
We've also made some small changes such as beautifing the admin menu (Joomla 3 like) and adding the extra themes into the package.
